Eddy Current Probe

Eddy Current Sensors

The distance, the position or the change of position of an electrically conductive material can be detected contactless and wear-free by an eddy current sensor. A high-frequency alternating current feeds a coil in the sensor head. The resulting electromagnetic field induces an eddy current in the material to be measured, perpendicular to the excitation field. The resulting change in the AC resistance of the coil is directly proportional to the distance of the sensor from the target material.
